Fast Pass All Inclusive Art Show

This body of work begins at the county fair which serves as a vibrant pallet for blending of paint and photography. Within this spectacle she finds and creates an overlap of experience. The fair’s dense milieu is the chaotic environment where she dissects and remixes facts and fictions. Shook's focus extends beyond the theme of perception; she delves into what we can willfully ignore or deceptively impose, inviting viewers to discern the differences.

Based on a True Story

This series is centered around interior spaces and human constructs that hold narrative. The energy and memories of the spaces come bare. The objects and architectural space are richly detailed photographically but Shooks brush alters the scenes to tell a related story as the paint obscures or creates.

Roadside Botanicals

The photos taken from the streets of my home in a California beach town are the basis of these works. The natural beauty mixes with the human made oddities and utilitarian elements and speaks to the California dream.

Rock Steady

These are based on a rocky beach in Northern California. The rocks are a wish for things to be true and steady but even the most elemental objects become subject to time, emotion, and perception with the layering of paint over the photographic images.
